Ministry and Leadership
Reverend Dr. Roderick Dwayne Belin is a theologian, publisher, and teacher of Christian practice whose work brings together four decades of ministry, leadership development, and creative formation. He serves as President and Publisher of the AME Sunday School Union and AMEC Publishing House, where he has expanded one of the nation’s oldest Black publishing institutions through digital innovation, multilingual resources, and the construction of a new award-winning headquarters that strengthens the Church’s educational and cultural work.
His ministry has included pastoral leadership in South Carolina and Tennessee, along with executive leadership at Greater Allen AME Cathedral in New York. Across these contexts he has cultivated communities shaped by prayer, learning, hospitality, and spiritual practice. His global work spans four continents, where he has taught, preached, and collaborated with leaders committed to building communities of resilience, justice, and spiritual depth.
Writing and Digital Formation
Dr. Belin is the author of the Local Church Leadership Series, a set of guides that support trustees, stewards, class leaders, and lay ministers in their essential roles within AME congregations. He is also the creator of INSIGHT: Life in the Spirit and Virtual Grace, two digital initiatives that offer daily practices of prayer, reflection, and community, expanding the landscape of accessible spiritual formation for people across generations and geographies.
The Belin Group
Through The Belin Group LLC, Dr. Belin provides consulting, training, and formation resources for churches and church leaders. The Belin Group’s work centers on Christian formation, leadership development, spiritually grounded strategy, and publishing and platform-building. It exists to help individuals, congregations, and institutions cultivate the practices and systems that support deep, lasting community.
Formation and Heritage
Dr. Belin is a graduate of Morehouse College, Union Theological Seminary, and Payne Theological Seminary. His academic formation grounds his leadership in a thoughtful, historically rooted, and forward-looking vision of Christian life. A third-generation minister in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, he was inducted into the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers at Morehouse College in recognition of his leadership and public witness.
Whether teaching, preaching, writing, or guiding institutions, Dr. Belin approaches ministry as a daily practice: a way of paying attention to God’s movement in community, in Scripture, and in the quiet interior places where devotion takes root. His work invites others to live with intention and to cultivate structures that help faith take shape in everyday life.
